Counseling is a critical part of the healing process. We work with survivors and their loved ones to support healing, understanding, and thriving.
WOAR provides free, trauma informed therapy services to people of all ages who have experienced sexual violence, regardless of when the trauma occurred. Whether the trauma occurred last month or 30 years ago, WOAR works with everyone.

Individual Trauma Therapy
WOAR provides extensively trained therapists who hold a master’s degree in psychology, counseling or social work and are also highly trained Sexual Assault Counselors. Our counselors utilize evidence-based trauma therapy and promising practices for survivors in need of trauma processing therapy which allows for an individualized treatment experience.
Evidence-based trauma therapy utilized at WOAR includes
- Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
- Prolonged Exposure (PE)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
We also use diverse therapeutic modalities such as

- Mindful Strategies
- Psychodynamic Case Conceptualization
- Narrative Therapy
The expressive therapies we use include
- Trauma-Informed Yoga
- Sand Tray
- Trauma Art Narrative Therapy (TANT)
Trauma Therapy sessions occur weekly or bi-weekly. Evening appointments are based on staff availability and can be made by arrangement with your trauma therapist.
Once trauma therapy begins, the scheduling of ongoing sessions is the responsibility of the client and the trauma therapist.
