As Board President, I am honored to work closely with the dedicated Staff and Board of WOAR –Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence to carry out our critical mission. For 50 years, WOAR has served Philadelphia 24/7 by providing critical services to survivors of sexual violence as well as education and training support to prevent violence in our diverse and dynamic communities.
Today I’m writing to announce an exciting development for our organization. WOAR engaged Bob Madonna of Diversified Services LLC to lead our search for our next Executive Director, and that search has now launched.
Since December 2022, WOAR has been led by Interim Executive Director Michael Kellerman, who has worked closely with the Board and staff to build on our organization’s rich track record of service, which has included celebrating WOAR’s 50th anniversary with our first-ever Symposium this past September. We are grateful for Michael’s ongoing leadership in this time of transition, and we look forward to a smooth transition after a new Executive Director is chosen in the coming months.
This critical leadership role is a unique opportunity for the right candidate to lead an agency with a strong history, a stable base of support and operations, a significant presence as a partner in our city’s safety net of services for survivors, and external leader in anti-violence advocacy, and real potential for ongoing growth.

In the coming months, WOAR’s Executive Search Committee will work closely with Bob Madonna to recruit for this role. We encourage you to share this opportunity with your networks.
We look forward to being in touch as this search progresses and thank you for your ongoing commitment to WOAR’s vision to end sexual violence in our communities.
With gratitude,
Joanne R. Strauss, Esquire
Board President
